February 10, 2014 – This week’s Athlete of the Week has been awarded to a deserving and accomplished young lady, Taylor Hurford. Taylor is an outstanding softball player who has received numerous titles and recognitions. Her Sparkman High School team has been named the 2012 Spain Park Tournament Champions, 2012 Lincoln County Champions, 2012 Baker Champions, 2012 and 2013 Gulf Shores Champions, and 2012 and 2013 6a Area, Regional, and State Champions. She has also recently committed to Martin Methodist receiving both a softball and academic scholarship. Taylor has maintained a steady work ethic with her school work from a young age. She is ranked among the top three percent in her grade while taking AP level classes and maintaining a 3.918 GPA. On top of all of this, Taylor still makes time for several organizations including FCCLA, SGA, HOSA, and FCA. Taylor also volunteers her time helping coach young softball athletes at training camps. Taylor is clearly a well-rounded and hard-working young lady who has proven that she deserves the title of Athlete of the Week. Congratulations Taylor!
