Reginald C. Battles – HH & TOC Athlete of the Week

February 3, 2014 – We are proud to announce Reginald C. Battles as our first HH & TOC Athlete of the Week in February. Reginald (Reggie) is on both the football and track teams at Athens High School. His accomplishments as an athlete far exceed the impressive statistic records of many because his accomplishments will assist him in all endeavors of life. He is a true athlete because he plays from the heart. He always gives 110% and plays to the best of his ability. He never missed practice or a film review and always worked on improving his game. He encouraged team players and the team as a whole. He stressed the importance of being unified as a team because he knew division would lead to failure. Even when the season was rough he never gave up and encouraged the team to continue to fight. He treated his team players with respect and dignity; regardless of their ability. Having a positive attitude is very important for an athlete; therefore he worked very hard making sure he remained positive at all times. As an athlete, he has learned lessons which will influence him for the rest of his life; thereby making him a better person and citizen. He has learned how to be a team player. He is compassionate, caring, hard-working, and determined. His immersive outlook and athletic ability earned him one of the highest awards at his team’s football banquet, the Eagle Award. His accomplishments are not limited to the football field either. Reggie maintains an impressive 3.75 GPA, is a member of National Honor Society, and received an “A” Honor Roll Certificate. He also has volunteered with countless organizations, earned several awards for his role in the school band, and is an active member and volunteer within his church community. He has also held several leadership roles in organizations including Treasurer of Future Business Leaders of America and President of The Kappa League Service Organization. It is apparent to anyone looking at the character of Reggie that he is an incredibly driven and well-rounded young man with a bright future full of countless opportunities earning him the title of this week’s Athlete of the Week. Congratulations Reggie!
