Grant Ball – HH & TOC Athlete of The Week

March 29, 2013 –

Grant Ball

There are just those perfect environments that are suited toward the positive development of a great student-athlete. It’s the kind of environment where you can be a “Big Fish” in a small pond; the kind of place where your success is supported and followed very closely; and the kind of community that brings us our next Athlete of the Week. He hails from a smaller school and is one of 550 total students, but he doesn’t see it that way. For Grant Ball, Woodville High School was the perfect stage for him to highlight his BIG accomplishments. Beginning on the football field, where this All-Star has been an intricate part of Woodville High varsity football since the 7th grade and has lettered each year. He was voted team captain, voted an All-Region player for the last three seasons and will go down in the record books as Woodville High School’s All-Time leading rusher. In the classroom, he’s an all-time leader on the honor roll. With a strong 3.75 GPA, Grant has fueled that number by exceling is certain subjects, like History. He doesn’t just stop IN the classroom. Grant is very much involved in student life and stays very much involved in school politics. He was voted Student Government Association President his senior year, President of the Beta Club, President of the “W” Club for Varsity lettermen and is second-in-command as the Senior Class Vice-President. Grant has focused much of his community involvement to a foundation, geared towards finding a cure for a deadly disease called Niemann-Pick Disease. He has supported the organization through his work with Walk-A-Thon’s and other fundraisers. Grant has also organized blood drives as his school, organized and chaired a Veteran’s Day celebration at his high school and just for fun, also organized and chaired the first Faculty-Student flag football game for charity at his school. Truly a big fish making some large waves. Congratulations, Grant!
