Brewer Hicklen – HH & TOC Athlete of the Week

Brewer Hicklen – Huntsville High School

September 4, 2013 – The beginning of a school year can be tough on a student.  Maybe, because they’re heading to a brand new school or moving from middle school to high school.  Or maybe because they are the first Athlete of the Week chosen for the 2013-2014 Athlete of the Year campaign and they feel that pressure to set a high precedent for future applicants.  Brewer Hicklen is not a new name to Huntsville High School, nor does he feel any strain being our first Athlete of the Week for the 2013-2014 school year.  He just so happens to be the first horse out of the gate and has already built an impressive resume.  Starting on the football field, where he looks to be a “game-changer” for the Crimson Panthers in 2013.  He was already chosen to the Huntsville All-City Football team in 2012 and voted best defensive-back by his team.  Brewer is a 2-year varsity starter on the diamond and was selected to the All-City team, but was also voted the Huntsville City MVP as a catcher.  He’s been called one of the top seven “duel-threat” players in the region.  His real duel-threat is what he’s accomplished in the classroom and in his community.  In school, Brewer carries a 3.9 GPA and has made the Honor Roll his first three years.  He’s scored high on his ACT and belongs to the National Honors Society.  Brewer’s actions in his community really tell the story of what a caring young man he really is.  His middle name should be “Volunteer”, because that is what he does with his free time.  Brewer gives his time to The Miracle League, to Huntsville City camps and events and is a peer tutor to elementary school students.  He’s Vice President of the Junior Civitan Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, but really puts a lot of time in to the group, Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD).  We’re off to a good start in 2013.

Congratulations, Brewer!
