MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) – Alex Williams finished his career at Belhaven as a record setter.

He holds the school record for touchdown passes at 47. He also holds the record for career wins as a starter.

“I like to think my leadership had a large role in our success and hopefully that can translate into success in the coming years,” said Williams.

After finishing his career in 2012, the former Blazer is now transitioning to a coaching role.

Williams is the head quarterback coach for a training and development program called QB Country. It is a year round program partnered with D1 in Madison.

The founder of QB Country is former Ole Miss quarterback David Morris. He headquarters the company in Mobile, Ala.

Morris hand picked Williams to be the lead man for the program in Madison.

“He was looking to expand to the Jackson area and sign a partnership with D1. He heard my name a few times, called me up, and I went down to Mobile. I went through an interview process that lasted a couple of weeks and got hired on,” Williams stated.

QB Country has trained some of the top quarterbacks in college football. Williams hopes to pass along that knowledge to future stars in the Jackson area with this intense, fast-paced program that breaks down all parts of a quarterback’s game.

“We film everything. We take pictures of every practice. We go over those pictures or film. We’re looking at everything. We are building muscle memory every day, and that’s really at the end of the day what we’re really trying to preach. We want everything we do here to be muscle memory so we don’t have to think about it in the game time atmosphere,” said Williams.
