October 31, 2013 – Septembers’s Character Athlete Word of the Month is DISCIPLINE. McKenzie is a prime example of an athlete with DISCIPLINE. Whether it is waking up at 5 am on a holiday, or coming in after dinner and schoolwork, she makes it a point to get in the training she needs to get her prepared for the next level. McKenzie, a senior at Madison Central, is a local soccer standout and has already committed to play her college soccer at Mississippi State University. One unique moment for her was training alongside another Mississippi State Bulldog and current Philadelphia Eagle, Fletcher Cox (pictured right). She is also a member of 2 U18 soccer club teams and is very active in her church. It takes tremendous DISCILPINE to commit to the things she does, but she does an outstanding job balancing it all and working hard to achieve her goals.
