My family and friends say that I am a very upbeat and positive person. I can always see the good and potential in others, but I never seemed to acknowledge it in myself. I wasn’t athletic growing up, because I never thought I’d be good enough, so I never tried. Last year, thanks to my best friend, I had a breakthrough. That’s when I found D1. I checked out the website, and though I was convinced I couldn’t do this, I filled out the free trial info, and had a response back from Coach Jordan within 30 minutes. If it weren’t for Jordan’s encouragement, I’d probably have been too scared to even show up the first day. I’m not going to lie and say the first week was wonderful: it wasn’t. It was brutal. I knew I was out of shape. I was sure I would be yelled at or judged for not being able to keep up with everyone else. However, it was exactly the opposite. I was praised for my efforts. When I wanted to quit, they wouldn’t let me. When I was practically in tears and couldn’t finish a 50 yard bear crawl, Coach Alex dropped down and crawled right along beside me until I crossed the finish line. When I was discouraged with my progress, Coach Trevor took time out of his day to sit with me one on one and come up with a game plan for my nutrition. He drew up sample meals, tips, and guidelines for me to follow and even called me when I had missed a few weeks. You aren’t going to get this in a gym. The coaches here genuinely care and strive for your success. Since becoming a D1 member, I’m down 50+ pounds and have dropped 3 sizes already but this is just the beginning for me. Thanks to D1, I know I get closer to my overall goals every day and I’ve truly never felt better. D1 did something for me that I didn’t think was possible- they helped me find my confidence. I’m not an athlete, and I know how easily life can get in the way. When I started D1, I was working and finishing my last semester of nursing school. It was so easy to find an excuse not to go, but excuses aren’t going to get you where you want to be. I still struggle, but I have NEVER left D1 and regretted the time I spent there. I challenge anyone who doesn’t think D1 is for them to come in for a free class. I promise you it will change your mind. To all the D1 Bowling Green staff- Thanks for all the energy and hard work you put into making us better. You guys rock!
