Katherine Robinson – HH & TOC Athlete of The Week

March 22, 2013 –

Katherine Robinson (430x640)
With the heavy requirements put on student athletes these days, it’s hard to call any young person an overachiever, especially when you have a complete student athlete like this week’s Athlete of the Week. Like the great singer-song writer Tom Petty once sang, “She’s an American girl”, Katherine Robinson from Hazel Green High School epitomizes that lyric to the fullest. She has it together in the classroom, on the field and in her community, exactly the requirements that catch our attention. Beginning in the classroom, Katherine displays all the signs of someone who is committed, determined and a future leader. She has never known a grade, other than an “A”, which has bolstered her GPA to a robust 4.33 and has allowed her to focus on earning highest GPA in key core classes. Over to the field of play, where you’ll find Katherine finding further success on several different playing platforms. After earning a varsity spot with the volleyball squad as a sophomore, Katherine hit her stride as a junior when she was awarded her school’s most prestigious volleyball award. She was given the Glenda Wright Award for her hard work and dedication on and off the court. Speaking of courts, Katherine may be the Captain of her volleyball squad, but she’s no less a leader when she suits up for the Lady Trojans basketball team. She earned her varsity letter as a junior and has even added a few years with the Lady Trojans softball team to her resume. Katherine knows that the measure of someone’s success is partly based on the contacts you involve yourself with, throughout your life. She started down this road early and has made several stops along the way. Katherine’s a part of the National Honors Society, Junior Civitan and was named a Trojan Ambassador. She excels with the French language, thanks to her involvement with the French Club and French Honors Society. Keeping it closer to home, Katherine pours much of her effort in to her local church. She’s heavily involved in food drives, fund raisers and clean-up projects and never misses a chance to help out at Christmas Charities. Congratulations, Katherine!
