D1 Huntsville – HH & TOC Character Athlete of The Week

April 20, 2013 –

Danielle Cassady-1

As many high school seniors approach the end of the high school career, it would be rather easy for most of them to slow down and coast to the finish line.  If you mention this thought to our next Athlete of the Week, she’s likely to tell you that it’s that extra push to the finish line that separates the “good” from the “GREAT!”  As we reach the finish line for this school year and for the Athlete of the Year Scholarship program, it’s Danielle Cassady who is isn’t coasting, but rather sprinting all the way to the end of the school year.  This East Limestone High School senior has literally been leading the cheers for the Indians, while compiling a rather impressive resume of accomplishments.  Danielle has climbed the cheer pyramid to become one of the most decorated cheerleaders, ever to attend East Limestone High School.  Even before she was named Varsity Cheer Captain this year, Danielle was attending camps and performing with the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA), and taking home first place in many of their individual routines.  Danielle has made a name for herself on the cheerleading circuit, while at the same time, making a name for herself in the classroom.  She’s been recognized by “Who’s Who Among American High School Students”, and with a 4.3 GPA, it’s easy to see why.  Danielle belongs to the Limestone County gifted program as well as the National Honors Society of High School Scholars and in 2011, was awarded the U.S. Achievement Academy National Leadership and Service award.  Being recognized nationally is quite an accomplishment, but when it comes to her civic involvement, Danielle sights are set on her local community.  She has been a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club, has worked for Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life and has even worked on a project to send shoes to underprivileged children in Central America.  Danielle has also worked with several camps, clean0up efforts and even offers her services as a tutor.  Congratulations, Danielle!
