Anderson Givhan – HH & TOC Athlete of the Week

 November 13, 2013 –

One might argue high school is a time in a young person’s life where they should be having as much fun as possible, while slowly preparing themselves for the next step in life.  Very rarely do you find individuals, like our next Athlete of the Week, who are three steps ahead in life, especially while still in high school.  When the name Anderson Givhan is mentioned up and down the halls of Providence Classical School, there are more than enough amazing stories and accomplishments that can be said about this remarkable young man.  Beginning in the classroom, Anderson has positioned himself at the Head of the Class.  He averages 97% or better in more than six of his classes, which include Chemistry, History, World Geography and Computer Applications.  He has also consistently earned the annual “4.0 GPA Award”, which speaks for itself.  Anderson’s talents extend out of the classroom and on to the stage, where he has shown a flare for the performing arts.  He’s acted and sung the lead in schools plays, as well as had a hand in much of the backstage production.  He’s also an accomplished pianist.  Anderson’s on stage performances are as impressive as his on the court performances.  He’s established himself as Team Captain to the Knights basketball team and has earned his varsity letter and the distinction of “Most Improved Player of the Year”.  Off the court, Anderson shows much enthusiasm to give back.  In addition to overseeing numerous church and rec-level activities for younger athletes, he has assisted in repairing roofs with World Changers and serves in the Downtown Rescue Mission and Manna House.  Congratulations, Anderson!
