Grant DeBruin makes good impression with Slammers
Thursday, June 20th – Grant DeBruin’s, Alabama-Huntsville’s leading hitter, college baseball career was ended abrubtly this year after shattering his ankle during the 2012 Gulf South Conference Tournament. DeBruin didn’t waste any time picking up his career. He rehabbed after surgery while working for D1 Sports Training in Huntsville. DeBruin got into contact with The Joliet Slammers manager Mike Breyman and ended up joining the team. DeBruin started contributing in his pro debut, a 6-3 victory May 18 over Traverse City in the Slammers’ second game. He was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI.
