Riley Malone – HH & TOC Athlete of The Week
April 11, 2013 –

Legacy: That’s a very powerful word. It’s the kind of word you associate with people who have done some amazing things; people who have touched lives; people who have made a difference. It’s the kind of word that future students might use when they hear the name, “Riley Malone”, or see his picture. If you’re a student at Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee, it’s likely you’ve heard of this pretty amazing student-athlete, who’s the Valedictorian of the Senior Class. On the field and on the court, he’s a Falcon, through and through. He was named to the 2012 Tennessee All Midstate Football Team. The same year, he was named District Offensive Lineman of the Year and Tennessee AAA District All District. His 4.0 GPA has solidified that top spot in his graduating class and his academic commitment while on the football and basketball team has earned him recognition as the top academic-athlete on the team. Riley has also received the Vanderbilt Book Award for being named the most outstanding junior, and has been recognized with an academic award from the Rotary Club. As much success as Riley has had in and out of the classroom, his real success story can be told from the community in which he gives back. For Riley, it all starts with “Health”. As acting President for the local chapter of “Health Occupations Students of America”, Riley has committed himself to a future in the health-care world and committed himself to getting others involved in a future in health-care. Riley has organized blood drives and other fund-raisers to help HOSA. He’s worked with the Beta Club to donate supplies to the local animal shelter and he’s worked with the Lion’s Club on their food donations campaign. Riley’s legacy will certainly be one that others will strive for, but will be awfully hard to repeat. Congratulations, Riley!
